The electrical engineering module of our summer program prioritizes practical learning; allows students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world challenges. You’ll tackle the AM Radio Challenge, where you’ll learn soldering techniques while constructing a functioning radio. In the Drone Challenge, you’ll dive into the fascinating world of flight by building and programming a drone. Finally, in the Smart Car Sensor Challenge, you’ll design and build a smart car equipped with sensors to navigate obstacles and complete tasks. These engaging electrical engineering projects will not only enhance student’s understanding of electrical engineering programs and principles but also encourage creativity, problem-solving skills, and a passion for innovation.

Electrical Engineering Projects
AM Radio Challenge
A classic electrical engineering summer camp activity, build a fully functional AM radio from a kit! Although AM radio may not be the most popular technology today, this quintessential project offers valuable learning experiences. It’s an excellent hands-on activity for high school students to grasp fundamental electrical engineering concepts and develop soldering skills. As a beginner-friendly project, it is a fantastic starting point for aspiring electrical engineers.

Flying Drone Challenge
Design and build a fully operational drone capable of carrying a payload to a designated target. This challenging project encourages students to continuously improve their drone’s performance through iterative design and testing. Students will work collaboratively to optimize their drones for maximum performance. Through friendly competition, teams will push each other to innovate and explore creative solutions. All of this will improve their understanding of aerodynamic principles, flight control systems, and other key concepts in electrical engineering.

Smart Car Sensor Challenge
In this exciting electrical engineering challenge, students will design and build a fully functional smart car from the ground up. Working collaboratively in teams students will learn to control their creations through Arduino coding. They will modify pre-written code to command the car’s movements to navigate through an obstacle course. To bring their designs to life, students will also gain hands-on experience with basic circuitry and breadboarding.
