2020 TryEngineering Summer Institute Scholarships
The TryEngineering Summer Institute offers the TryEngineering Scholarship Program, a need-based scholarship that offers financial assistance to students interested in attending the TryEngineering Summer Institute. Awards are based on demonstrated financial need and meeting the other eligibility and selection criteria. There are a limited number of scholarships available for each location.
The scholarship may only be applied toward the reduction of Summer Institute tuition for the year of application. It cannot be used towards related expenses such as, but not limited to, travel and purchase of individual supplies incurred before, during or after attendance.
If the student is selected, the student will be registered by the TryEngineering staff, and then the scholarship will be applied directly to the student’s tuition balance.
2019 scholarships were made possible thanks to generous donations to the IEEE Foundation, IEEE Educational Activities Scholarship Fund, from:
- Jennifer Bernhard, IEEE Division IV Director/Delegate, 2017-2018
- Susan and Rick Brooks
- Robert Heider
- Matt Booty (donation matched by Microsoft)
To make a donation towards 2020 student scholarships, please visit the IEEE Foundation website and select IEEE Educational Activities Scholarship Fund. Thank you for making a difference!
Eligible TryEngineering Scholarship Program applicants must be rising 9th through 12th graders (or ages 13 through 17). Current IEEE employees and their family members are ineligible for this scholarship.
Scholarships are currently only available to United States residents. In future years, we plan to offer scholarships to students in other countries. Please note that all scholarships are taxable and awardees will be required to send in a W-9.
Selection criteria will include the following areas: demonstrated financial need, personal essay, and letters of recommendation. The Selection Committee and the IEEE Foundation have the right to consider other factors during the selection process.
