TryEngineering Summer Institute FAQs
The TryEngineering Summer Institute values a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants. We have a zero-tolerance policy for any behavior that disrupts this environment, including but not limited to: endangering the safety of others, damaging property, alcohol and drug use, theft, and all forms of harassment (sexual, racial, or personal). Any violation of this policy will be addressed with appropriate disciplinary action, which may include dismissal from the program.
We prioritize student safety and well-being. Throughout the day, students participate in a range of engaging and supervised activities. Our residence halls are staffed 24/7 by live-in professionals, including the Program Director, Health Director, and Resident Assistants. All off-campus excursions are also fully supervised by our staff. In collaboration with on-campus college security, we strive to create a safe and supportive environment where students can thrive.
Roommates are assigned based on age and application preferences, with consideration for self-described gender and age for optimal roommate pairings. Students reside in residence halls with live-in staff members providing ongoing support and supervision.

Pickup: Upon arrival, students will be greeted by a TryEngineering Summer Institute staff member wearing a t-shirt and carrying a sign with their name. The evening before their flight, parents will receive a phone call to confirm pickup arrangements and an email with the staff member's photo for easy identification. Staff will assist with baggage retrieval and transport the student directly to their residence hall.
Drop off: To ensure a smooth departure, students are transported to the airport with ample time. Staff will assist with check-in, baggage drop-off, and escort students through security. To avoid delays, please ensure all baggage fees are prepaid. A staff member will remain at the airport to assist students in case of any flight disruptions, including cancellations or re-booking.
