High-Impact Research University in Southern California
Located on nearly 1,200 scenic acres in Southern California and distinguished by more than 60 years of high-impact research, the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is recognized as one of the most ethnically diverse research universities in the nation. UCR is located approximately 50 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and is within easy driving distance of dozens of major cultural and recreations sites, as well as desert, mountain, and coastal destinations. It's a perfect location for our California engineering summer camp.
What can Institute students expect for weekend activities?
There are plenty of fun things to do in the Los Angeles region, but nothing can help you beat the summer heat and unwind after a long week of engineering like a day at Raging Waters Los Angeles. This 60-acre waterpark has been recognized by USA Today as a "Top 10 Water Park" and has more than 50 world-class rides, slides and attractions, including Aqua Rocket, the state's only hydromagnetic water coaster!
On Sunday, we like to keep it local and make use of all the great facilities on campus. There is a great outdoor pool, where students can cool off and work on their tan; others can play games in the gym, or work out in the fitness center. We'll spend the rest of the day relaxing, catching up on laundry, and recharging for the exciting week ahead!
