Summer STEM Is Underway at the IEEE TryEngineering Summer Institute

The IEEE TryEngineering Summer Institute, held in collaboration with NSLC, is officially underway, with students across the country spending their summer immersed in hands-on engineering experiences. From designing and building projects to collaborating with peers and learning from industry professionals, participants are already exploring what it means to think like an engineer.

Across program locations, students are making the most of their summer through STEM exploration, gaining valuable skills and experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.

Hands-On Learning in Action

Every day, students tackle engaging projects that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. Rather than simply learning about engineering concepts, participants apply them through hands-on activities that bring ideas to life. This approach helps students build technical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how engineering shapes the world around them.

Exploring College Life

In addition to engineering projects, students are experiencing life on a university campus. Living in residence halls, dining on campus, and participating in organized activities gives students a glimpse into the college experience while helping them develop independence and confidence in a supportive environment.

Building Connections

One of the most rewarding parts of the program is the opportunity to connect with others who share a passion for STEM. Students collaborate on projects, learn from instructors and guest speakers, and build friendships that often continue long after the summer ends. These connections create a strong sense of community and make the experience even more memorable.

Discovering New Possibilities

For many participants, summer is a time to explore interests and think about the future. Some students discover a new engineering discipline that excites them, while others gain confidence in pursuing a college major or career path they have already been considering. The experience provides valuable exposure to engineering while encouraging students to ask questions, try new things, and challenge themselves.

A Summer of Engineering Discovery

As current sessions continue, students are gaining far more than technical knowledge. They are building confidence, developing problem solving skills, and creating memories that will last long after the summer ends.

From hands-on projects and team challenges to guest speakers and campus experiences, students are discovering new interests, developing valuable skills, and exploring future possibilities. We look forward to seeing all they accomplish throughout the remainder of the summer and beyond!

There’s Still Time to Join This Summer

As current sessions continue, students are gaining far more than technical knowledge. They are building confidence, developing problem solving skills, and creating memories that will last long after the summer ends.

Registration remains open for select programs. If your teen is ready to explore engineering through hands-on projects, collaboration, and college campus experiences, there is still time to be part of this summer’s program. Check current availability and secure a spot today!
