TryEngineering Summer Institute

An exciting ten day, on-campus engineering camp for high school students held at three premier universities across the United States in 2019.

University of San Diego

#1 Beautiful Campus: The Princeton Review

The University of San Diego is a beautiful place to be. It’s one of the most common ways for people to express their fondness when they’re on campus and they’re asked about the institution.   USD is the youngest independent institution on the U.S. News & World Report list of top 100 universities in the United States. USD's small class sizes, compassionate culture, unique learning opportunities, study-abroad opportunities and state-of-the-art resources ensure that graduates of our undergraduate and graduate programs succeed after graduation and throughout their lives.

TryEngineering Summer Institute offers its California engineering summer camp at University of San Diego

Where did we go last year, and what about this summer? Last year our students:

Students at our University of San Diego location toured Qualcomm headquarters, a semiconductor company that inspired the smartphone revolution. Pioneering 3G and 4G, the world-renowned company is now working on 5G. Students will explore the Qualcomm museum and experience demos on some of the latest technologies such as drones, intelligently connected wearables, virtual and augmented reality, and smart city innovation.

The Aerospace Corporation – Previous students toured the only federally funded research and development center committed exclusively to space related technologies. We toured the Los Angeles headquarters and visited with engineers and scientists who are working on innovative research projects such as asteroid defense, new spacecraft propulsions systems, human space programs and many others.

Guardian Jet Center – We toured this Fixed Based Operator (FBO) located at Ontario Airport in Southern California. We visited the hangar facilities and learned how engineers and technicians maintain and upgrade modern corporate jets. We also had an opportunity to meet with the airport’s chief engineer and other key personnel to learn how technology keeps the aviation industry safe and efficient.  Our California engineering USD program is awesome.

We will post our 2023 Field Trips as they are confirmed.  They will all be just as inspiring and fantastic as previous summers!
